PDF/X PLUS SPECIFICATIONS Ghent PDF Workgroup version 4 (= Medibel + version 7)
MEDIBEL+ decides to implement PDF/X Plus v4 specifications
Medibel+ has decided to adopt the PDF specifications for ads in magazines and papers as Belgian standard to forward ads, in accordance with the conclusions of the Ghent PDF Workgroup in 2008.
The same goes for Febelgra and the different foreign organizations - in the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, the United States, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Austria, Norway and the United Kingdom – that will introduce the new specifications very soon.
The v4 specifications support the latest software like Acrobat Distiller 7/8/9 and InDesign
CS 2/CS 3/CS 4. A complete list of supported applications can be found on www.gwg.org.

In order to achieve this it was necessary to adjust all 13 PDF profiles and matching Adobe PDF settings (joboptions).
Starting date and intermediate phase
As to the ads in magazines and papers the new profiles will be allowed from January 1, 2010 onward. To download them, click here (can also be found on www.gwg.org ).
Ghent PDF Workgroup v3 Settings (Medibel+ v6) will be supported till GWG v5 (Medibel+ v8) is released.
The new v4 specifications can be used with minimum the following applications :
- Adobe Acrobat 7/8/9
- Direct PDF export from Adobe inDesign CS 2/CS 3/CS 4 (attention: also called joboptions in InDesign CS 2/CS 3/CS 4. Because of the central management of the joboptions, you will see them as well in Distiller 7/8/9 as in all CS 2/CS 3/CS 4 applications, but it is very important to select the correct joboptions specific for InDesign CS 2/CS 3/CS 4 and not to use those from Distiller 7/8/9 in InDesign CS 2/CS 3/CS 4!!!
Therefore a clear distinction in the naming of the joboptions is made:
_1v4.joboptions = only to be used in Distiller 7/8/9
_1v4_IND4.joboptions = only to be used for InDesign CS 2/CS 3/CS 4 direct export) - Enfocus Pitstop Professional 9.2, Pitstop Server 9.2

- MagazineAds_1v4.joboptions for Distiller 7/8/9

The new PDF profiles and Adobe PDF settings (joboptions) for ads in papers are called:
- NewspaperAds_1v4.ppp for Enfocus software
- NewspaperAds_1v4.joboptions for Distiller 7/8/9
- NewspaperAds_1v4_IND4.joboptions for InDesign CS 2/CS 3/CS 4 direct export
During the intermediate phase the following existing PDF profiles and joboptions can still be used:
MagazineAds_1v3.ppp
MagazineAds_1v3.joboptions
NewspaperAds_1v3.ppp
NewspaperAds_1v3.joboptions
